There were many times that Yeshua raised His voice - when rebuking religious hypocrisy, demons and sickness. However there are two instances in which He gives a full "shout" - one has happened already; one is yet to come.

Matthew 27:50
"Yeshua cried out with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit."

Mark 15:37
"Yeshua cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last."

The first time Yeshua gave a great shout was at the last moment on the cross, right before His spirit left His body. This was not the scream of pain that He undoubtedly gave when the nails of the crucifixion were hammered into His hands. Nor was this a whimper of defeat and surrender.

Yeshua died on the cross on purpose, according to the predetermined plan of God, in order to break the power of death (Acts 2:23-24, Hebrews 2:14-15). It was a heroic, single-handed assault on the forces of hell and the grave.

This was a shout of attack, like a soldier shouts when he runs into battle. This was the shout of a victor, not a victim. There was a certain aggression to this. Yes, He yielded up His spirit, but that was a firm decision, an act of His will. It required effort, concentration and determination.

When Joshua descended from Mount Sinai with Moses, he misunderstood the shout of the people. He thought it was the shout of war, but it was the noise of people partying with the Golden Calf (Exodus 32:17). Let us not mistake Yeshua's shout in reverse. This was the shout of triumph and war.

Psalm 47:5
"God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet."

There is another time that Yeshua will shout - at the Second Coming.

I Thessalonians 4:16
"The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God."

The Second Coming is the launching of an all out military attack by the armies of heaven against the rebellious angels and against the armies of the nations (Revelation 19, Zechariah 14). He will shout at the head of His armies; He is leading the attack. Can you hear it? There is such passion in it, such anger, and such power.

Surely the mountains will shake, the dead will be raised, and the enemies of God will flee from before Him. Surely the seas will roar and the trees of the field will clap their hands. Let us tremble before Him, for the King is coming. He is coming to judge the earth in righteousness.
