Victory

Asher Intrater

The word for "eternity" in Hebrew is "Netsach". The word for "victory" is "Netsachon" - which could be literally translated as "a little part of eternity." Our spiritual victory in this life is that we already have eternal life granted to us. Therefore no matter what the circumstances may seem to be, we always have the victory. Why? Because in the long run, we already know we have eternal life.

If in the middle of a sports game, the other side seems to be winning, but you have a glimpse into the future and you know that the final score is in your favor, then you have the victory already. The word in Greek for "victory" is "Nike." And we can have the victory in whatever kind of shoes we wear.

The word "Netsach" is also used as "overcome" or "conquer". It is found in the Hebrew version of John 16:33 - "In the world you will have tribulation, but be encouraged, for I have overcome the world." In Yeshua, we already have the victory, because He has risen from the dead.

In John 17:3, Yeshua prayed to the Father, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God..." Having a personal relationship with God is a taste of eternity, and that is our victory. Be encouraged. Yeshua has conquered death, given us eternal life, opened the door to knowing the Father's love, and won the victory on our behalf.

Bar Mitzvah

This week in our congregation in Jerusalem, we are celebrating another Messianic Bar Mitzvah, in which one of our young teenagers comes forth for the first time to read from the scrolls as Yeshua did (Luke 4:16). It is a beautiful event to see our teenagers standing up in the image of Yeshua and reading from the original texts. It is also a time when many of the extended "not-yet-believing" family members come to participate. Please pray this week for "G" as he comes to read and share a brief message, for "C" who will lead the ceremony, and for "N's" family members and guests. Our desire is to walk in the footsteps of Yeshua. May there be spiritual power, salvation and healing to accompany the reading of the word!

Netanyahu Hosts Bible Study

The following is an excerpt taken from Jerusalem Post article by Herb Keinon 12/10/11:

Netanyahu will begin hosting a regular Bible study group in his official residence for researchers, public officials and invited guests.

Both Ben-Gurion and Begin, when they each served as prime minister, hosted regular Bible study groups.

Netanyahu said he was establishing the class to perpetuate love of the Bible.

Last Sunday, at a ceremony in Sde Boker marking the 38th anniversary of Ben-Gurion’s death, Netanyahu recalled the first premier’s Bible study class, saying that his father-in-law used to attend.

“Ben-Gurion understood that the Book of Books is our mandate for our country, as he said in that same unforgettable statement before the Peel Commission in 1936,” Netanyahu said. “He viewed the Bible as the wondrous story of the Jewish people, the unique spiritual, cultural and historic heritage of our people, and also as one of the cornerstones of all of human culture.
