Passover – Then and Now

By Eddie Santoro

As Israel has done for so many thousands of years, the nation will once again obey the ancient Biblical commandment and keep the Passover. On that incredible night so long ago, the Lord showed His great faithfulness toward Israel.  From heaven, He looked down and saw their misery and felt their pain. He could have sent another but love demanded that He Himself come and rescue them. (Exodus 3:7).

There were signs and wonders. Moses beheld the one who was fully man and fully God.  With devastating plagues God humbled the most powerful nation on the earth and a few short hours later, Israel set forth on a journey that continues even until this day. Israel marched out of Egypt after 430 years of slavery. An imprisoned and oppressed people were set free. God showed Himself great in the eyes of Israel and all the earth.

Fifteen centuries later, another Jewish man gathered His disciples around him. He was the same one who had looked down from heaven so many years before. His heart had not changed. He still desired to set his people free, but this time it was not just His precious Israel that He would lead out of bondage. In the next few hours, He who was fully God and fully man would Himself become the Passover lamb. Love would demand that He sacrifice Himself on a cross in the city that He loved. The world would never be the same.

His disciples did not understand what was happening. He spoke of servant-hood, of going home to His father, and of the power of life over death. They celebrated the Passover together, and then this one, who loved like no other had ever loved, went forth and destroyed the Kingdom of darkness and death. He finished the deliverance that Moses had begun so many years before.

On His cross and through His death and resurrection, He defeated the powers of hell and gave to those that He had chosen a Kingdom that would endure forever. Death was swallowed up in victory and His light conquered darkness for ever more. May this be a year that you are set free from every bondage and may the power of the resurrection of Yeshua, the Lamb of God, work his victory in your life.

Netanyahu – On Security

Excerpt translated from interview in Musaf, Maariv

The possession of nuclear weapons by Iran is a great danger to the nation of Israel.  Tonight is the Feast of Passover, and on this night it is commonly recited around the dinner table, "in every generation enemies rise up to eradicate us."  This has been proven to be a fact.  This is exactly what happened in the last century with the Holocaust.   Nazi Germany rose up to destroy the Jewish people; we had no nation and no military. There were those then who saw the danger and did nothing.

We are currently responding to four primary threats.  The first response is to this nuclear threat and that is by encouraging pressure on Iran by the international community.  The second is building protection against missiles, such as the iron domes.  The third is obviously the cyber threat against our infrastructure.  We are positioning ourselves to become a cyber power.  The fourth is our borders.  If the borders are not fenced and protected, then Israel would be overrun.

Michael Cohen – In Memoriam

By Ari Ben

Our dear friend and brother, Michael Cohen, passed away this week, after collapsing at the Jaffa Gate of the Old City in Jerusalem.

Michael’s funeral was attended by a large number of those who had been touched by his life.  The turnout alone was a testament to the genuine love that he carried for every person he met. The feeling that hung in the air of respect and admiration for Michael was tangible.

Michael was an ordained Anglican priest, who some years ago discovered the Jewish roots of his faith as well as his family.  He later made aliyah to Israel and wrote a book on Jewish roots.

A humble man and a servant, Michael traveled throughout England and the U.S. teaching the Word of God and about Israel.  But the majority of his time he spent in Israel teaching at Succat Hallel, greeting at the doors of Ahavat Yeshua, and serving on the boards of Makor Hatikvah and Revive Israel.  He was also a mentor and spiritual father for many of the young adults of the community.  He will be sorely missed.

Three Outpourings

By Asher Intrater

In the end times, there will be great outpourings of the Holy Spirit. We could classify these outpourings in three simple categories.

  1. Revival in the Church
  2. The example of what happened on Pentecost morning will be repeated, but on an international scale.
    Acts 2:17 (Joel 2:28)
In the last days, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and daughters will prophesy.

  3. Judgment on the Nations
  4. As the Spirit is poured out on all flesh in all nations, the same Spirit that brings revival also brings judgment.
    Zephaniah 3:8
My judgment is to gather the peoples, to gather the kingdoms, to pour on them My wrath, all My fierce anger. By the fire of My jealousy, all the earth will be consumed.

  5. Repentance in Israel
  6. As the Church comes to its fullness and the nations are judged, the same outpouring of the Spirit will bring a revelation and repentance to Israel concerning Yeshua and salvation.
    Zechariah 12:10
I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication; and they will look toward Me whom they have pierced.

These three outpourings are connected to one another, and also to our prayers, our faith, and our readiness.
