Eternal Love and Glory in John 17

By Asher Intrater

Twice in John 17 we find the expression, "before the foundation of the world."
The first speaks of Yeshua and the Father together in glory.
John 17:5 – "… the glory I had with You before the world was."
The second speaks of Yeshua and the Father together in love.
John 17:24 – "… that they may gaze upon My glory which You gave Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world."

Try to imagine. In eternity past, before God created the world, Yeshua and the Father were together. They had perfect love, joy, and peace. They had awesome power, light, and glory. It was so wonderful that they wanted to invite others to join them. So they created angels and mankind to enjoy this wonderful state of being forever. The gospel is God's invitation to join in that fellowship (I John 1:3).

The same love they have for one another is offered to us.

Father God Himself loves us.
John 16:27 – "The Father Himself loves you…"
In fact He loves us just as much as He loves Yeshua.
John 17:23 – "… You have loved them as You have loved Me."
And Yeshua Himself loves us in the same way that the Father loves Him.
John 15:9 – "As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you."

God's love and glory are transferred to us from the Father through Yeshua.
John 17:22 – "I have given them the glory which You gave Me …"
Yeshua's prayer in John 17 is that we would join them in eternal love and glory.

God's Path to Success

By Don Finto

When Joshua was about to enter Canaan, the Lord gave him a sure path to success. "Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it, then you will be prosperous and successful" – Joshua 1:8.

Meditate, think about, ponder the Word of God. Keep talking about it. Do not let it depart from your mouth. Be careful to do it. "Then you will be prosperous and successful."

The first psalm has a similar promise, but the promise is given not just to one man, but to any person whose "delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night" – Psalm 1:2. That person will be like a well-watered tree beside springs of water whose leaf never withers and who never ceases to produce fruit in season. "Whatever he does prospers" – Psalm 1:3.

Many believers rarely pick up the Word of God, while others in persecuted lands pay a great price even to possess a copy of the Bible.  Let me challenge you again: Have a reading plan! Read it. Meditate on it. Let His thoughts permeate your thoughts. It's a sure promise to godly success and prosperity.

U.S. Elections

This week commemorates the great Twin Towers terrorist attack of 9/11. Every year September 11 is close to the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah, Rosh Hashanna). This year the time is approaching the presidential election between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.  For those of us who do not live in the US, American politics may not seem relevant. Yet the President of the United States wields more political influence and authority than any other position in the world. Therefore the election of the US President has significance for all nations. Since this update goes out to 16 language groups, we are asking here particularly for those not in the US to pray for God's will to be done, for the President, the Congress, the Senate, and State elections.

Daniel 2:21 – God removes kings and raises up kings.
Daniel 4:17; 4:25; 4:32; 5:21 – The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He chooses…

Let us remember that God has power to intervene in the governments of men, and He will respond to our fervent prayers.

Ahavat Yeshua on the Move

By Ariel Blumenthal

Our Jerusalem congregation, Ahavat Yeshua (Love of Jesus), is on the move!  We are packing up camp from our current location and following the pillar of fire of His presence to a commercial/industrial area on the south side of the city.  It will be our 5th venue in the 7 years of our existence, and with each move we see His hand leading us to greater and greater grace.  In this move we are also changing our meeting time from Friday afternoon to Saturday (Shabbat) morning.  This is already having a big impact on many in the congregation, and we are seeing the Lord move on the hearts of many to “step up” their level of commitment and participation.

There is a new staff and vision for the children’s program (we have lots of them, and 5 births on schedule for October!); a new vision and staff for the regular fellowship lunches that we will now have together after the Saturday services; and a volunteer to oversee the transportation for those who now need rides to and from the meetings (no public transportation in Jerusalem on the Sabbath!)  Please pray with us during this time of transition: for the staff, for the congregants, for unity, and for a deep sense of renewal as we make this new start.
