Peter’s Revelation about Gentiles

written by Asher Intrater
May 17, 2013

Peter was a man who received great revelation from God.

His first revelation was that he himself was a sinner (Luke 5:8).

Then he had the history-making revelation that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God (Matthew 16:16-18).

On Pentecost morning, he had the revelation that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the disciples with speaking in tongues is a continuation and fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. (Acts 2:16-17).

In his epistles, Peter shared the revelation that suffering for the sake of Yeshua is to partake in His sufferings and part of the process of being glorified in Him (I Peter 4:1, 12-14).

Another of Peter’s history-making revelations was that God loves all people just the same and we all have equal standing before Him.

Acts 10:28, 34-35
God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality, but in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.

God judges people not racially but morally. No one is rejected because of his racial background. God judges all people equally on the basis of spiritual and moral righteousness.

Until this point in history, almost all religious expression was confined and defined by racial and ethnic boundaries. Peter’s revelation opened the faith on the basis of universal salvation for all peoples. The course of history was changed in that moment.

Surprising Psalms

Beginnings are important. They are foundational. In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit was poured out on Shavuot/Pentecost and the church was born. Over the next 2.5 chapters, the disciples (mostly Peter) proclaim the Gospel, several times, to all the Jewish people gathered in...
