Wrath of the Lamb

With each passing day, we distance ourselves from the first coming of Yeshua (Jesus) and come closer to His second coming. With this transition, we should be receiving more revelation about the end times, and more revelation about who Yeshua is, not only as described in the gospels, but also in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 19:11-15a
I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns…
And the armies of heaven, clothed in fine lined, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
Out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.

Yeshua is described here as an army commander, in fact THE Commander of the Army of the Lord of Hosts. He is the same Commander that was seen and worshiped by Joshua (Joshua 5:13-14).

The fire in His eyes is one of anger. He is coming back to make war, to judge, to bring punishment. He is coming to execute the wrath of God. Wrath is a combination of punishment and anger. This is what the Bible calls, the “Wrath of the Lamb”

Revelation 6:16
Hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

Yeshua is described as a Lamb. A lamb is gentle and non aggressive. That is the opposite quality of wrath. However the sins of mankind are so evil, they have infuriated even the kindest and gentlest person who ever lived. The Lamb has become wrathful.

Some of the biblical passages most difficult to read are the long prophecies of judgment on the nations, such as Isaiah 13 through 34, Jeremiah 46 through 51, and Ezekiel 25 through 32. They continue on through the Minor Prophets, culminating when “all the nations will come to battle against Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:9, 14:2).

The recurring theme of extended passages is that in the end times, the nations of the world will attack Israel, and God will fight against them in judgment.

These prophecies of war in the Middle East are the biblical context for understanding the New Covenant teaching on the end times – whether in Yeshua’s prophecy on the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21), or in the passages of wrath in the book of Revelation.

[This past week, the International House of Prayer in Kansas City sponsored a week long conference on the Book of Revelation. This happened at the same time that the war in Gaza broke out. That is not a coincidence. I see the Messianic Remnant of Israel as a bridge, or link, between the international Church receiving revelation about the end times and the nation of Israel fighting wars against the international Jihad.]

Revelation describes two types of “golden bowls”. The first kind is in the hands of the elders who have “golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints” (Revelation 5:8). The second kind is in the hand of angels who have “golden bowls full of the wrath of God” (Revelation 15:7). There is a connection between the two. Prayer can be a dangerous thing. The more we pray according to the Holy Spirit, the more the righteous judgments of God will be released. Our bowls of prayer fill up the bowls of God’s wrath.

The events of the book of Revelation are beginning to be fulfilled before our very eyes. We must have a greater revelation of Yeshua, and an understanding of how the wars in the Middle East lead up to final judgment of God.
